Being healthy may, at first, seem a bit unrelated to being productive. What does it matter what you eat or how often you exercise if you’re able to get your projects completed just as well those around you?

Actually, it matters a lot. Being healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will prolong your life. It makes you feel good about yourself, which can also make you more motivated, productive and self-confident.

Being Healthy Is More Than Not Being Sick

It’s important to understand the difference between not being unhealthy and actually practicing good health habits.

You may not be sick. You may not be obese. However, if you aren’t actively making healthy choices for your lifestyle and future health, you may be putting yourself at risk of a shorter lifespan and less-enjoyable years as you approach old age.

Additionally, being healthy can help you accomplish more right now. Do you feel burned out often? Have problems sleeping? Or do you find yourself feeling stressed or angry often?

Taking proactive steps to better health can likely make your life more enjoyable and help you get more done on a daily basis. It’s a win-win-win.

Eating right and exercising can give you more energy. Practicing self-care can keep you from feeling stressed and exhausted. Simply taking the time to be more grateful for the good fortunes of your life can make your happier and more hopeful for each day you have. Why would you not do more to be healthy?
